Yaesu FTM-200DE

The Yaesu FTM-200DE mobile transceiver offers dual band operation with one receiver. The display shows two frequencies, with the first frequency being received and the second serving as the dual watch frequency.
More than 1100 memories help to organise the most popular frequencies and always have them quickly at hand. The receiver operates continuously from 108 to 1000 MHz, allowing reception of aeronautical (AM) or marine (FM) radio.

The transmitter uses robust power amplifier modules with 50 W max. transmit power on each band. Of course, the transmitting power can also be reduced. Due to the very robust construction with guided air cooling, operation from -20 to 60°C is possible.

To be able to use the usual navigation functions and location data in C4FM, the FTM-200DE has a built-in GPS receiver with 66 channels. An external GPS receiver can be connected as an option. This allows you to use the familiar functions such as displaying the direction and distance to the remote station, backtracking and many more.
Other functions known from C4FM technology, such as Digi Group ID and Digital Group Monitor, are also supported by the FTM-200DE. Of course, the FTM-200DE can also participate in the Wires-X system. The necessary connections for the optional HRI-200 interface are available.

The band scope uses the colour display to show 63 channels to the left and right of the currently selected frequency. This way, you never miss any activity in the vicinity. The control unit is decoupled from the main unit and can be operated remotely with the enclosed cable, but can also be mounted directly on the main unit. The scope of delivery includes a power cable with fuses, the SSM-85D DTMF microphone, a USB cable and a short and a 3 m long connecting cable for the control unit and the main unit.

The FTM-200DE offers VHF and UHF mobile radio at the highest performance level: optionally analogue in FM or digital in C4FM with 50 W transmitting power, the transceiver can deliver more than others, and this without a separate power amplifier. Thanks to a special cooling system, the housing remains cool and the fan only comes on when needed. With 3 watts AF power, operation is no problem even in noisy environments, whether mobile in a car or portable at an event.

Optionally, the FTM-200DE offers a Bluetooth interface. This enables "hands-free" operation, i.e. the possibility of making radio calls without an annoying microphone cable and without constantly pressing the PTT button, as is now also the rule for mobile operation when driving. Yaesu offers the optional SSM-BT10 as a headset.

The device offers an easy-to-read 5.1 cm (2 inch) colour LC display with 320 x 240 pixels. With "System Fusion" Yaesu combines analogue and digital operation, between which it switches automatically with AMS (Automatic Modes Switching, automatic switching between analogue FM and digital C4FM operation).

Tuning is possible in steps of 5, 6.25, 8.33, 10, 12.5, 15, 20, 25, 50 or 100 kHz, providing a sensible solution for every country and band plan. All settings and the stored frequencies can be saved on an optional microSD memory card with a maximum capacity of 32 GB. Voice recording and playback (Voice Recording) also use the memory card.
With a width of 13.9 cm, a height of 5.3 cm and a depth of only 1.8 cm, the control unit of the FTM-200DE is very handy and yet not too small. The main unit is also compact, measuring 13.9 cm x 4.2 cm x 13.2 cm, and can fit anywhere. Both together weigh just 1.1 kg. The power supply of 13.8 V / 11 A is possible with a mains adapter, but also by battery mobile or on a fieldday or expedition.
