The Icom IC-9700 is a Software Defined Radio (SDR) All-Mode transceiver designed for the 144 MHz (2 m), 430 MHz (70 cm) and 1200 MHz (23 cm) amateur bands. It is built on the same design concept as the popular IC-7300 for HF and VHF bands and shares the same compact form factor for familiar operation.

Direct RF Sampling for VHF/UHF
The IC-9700 uses direct RF sampling for the VHF and UHF bands, reducing hardware complexity while improving signal-to-noise performance. The 23 cm (1.2 GHz) band operates using a conversion architecture.
Optimized for SSB, EME and Satellite Operation
Thanks to its SDR architecture, high frequency stability and dedicated functions, the IC-9700 is ideal for SSB operation, EME (Earth-Moon-Earth) communication and satellite work.
