Tecnosky Horizon Binocular Turret
The Tecnosky Horizon Binocular Turret is a groundbreaking innovation for binocular observation with Newtonian and refractor telescopes. Designed to solve the common issues of traditional turrets, it allows users to achieve focus without optical correction systems (OCS), enabling observations at low magnifications without significantly increasing focal length and magnification. With the Horizon, you can observe extended objects like star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies at low magnifications. For instance, using a 400mm Dobsonian telescope with two 18mm eyepieces (60° field of view), you can achieve 88x magnification, offering a wide and detailed view. With a 150mm achromatic refractor, it’s possible to observe at just 50x—a value rarely attainable with traditional binocular turrets. Thanks to its ability to fully correct the image orientation, the Horizon is also ideal for terrestrial applications such as landscape observation with Newtonian or refractor telescopes in direct focus.
The prism clear aperture is 17.3mm, ensuring universal compatibility and eliminating the need for bulky optical correctors. While smaller than the 21-22mm found in other turrets, this aperture is optimized for efficient use with standard eyepieces. An 18mm eyepiece with a 60° field of view has a field stop similar to the Horizon’s clear aperture, delivering low magnifications without compromise. Compared to a standard turret with a 2.7x OCS, the Horizon enables lower magnifications and a more natural viewing experience. Eyepieces with large eye relief or wide apparent fields, often with a reduced field stop, are fully compatible with the Horizon.
Thanks to its design, the Tecnosky Horizon turret is compatible with a wide range of instruments and does not require additional accessories. It is a versatile solution for maximizing the optical potential of Newtonian and refractor telescopes for both astronomical and terrestrial observations.
